Dr Harsha Ratnaweera has been a Professor in Water and Wastewater Engineering at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) since 2012. Before NMBU, he was the Director of International Projects and Innovation and in service for 20 years at the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA). He holds a PhD degree in Civil Engineering (1992) from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and a MSc in Chemical Engineering (1987) from the National Technical University of Ukraine (NTUU-KPI).

Since joining NMBU in 2012 as a professor specializing in water technology, Harsha has held several pivotal roles; he currently serves as the Vice President of the European Water Association (EWA) and as Director of the Board of the International Water Association (IWA). Furthermore, he spearheads the Water Harmony Global Educational and Research network, which he founded in 2012. This initiative has grown to encompass over 100 universities spanning 54 countries.
