Jianrong Qiu is now chair professor of Cheung Kong Scholars Programme, vice dean of the faculty of information technology, Zhejiang University, China. His research interests are light interaction with materials and optoelectronic materials. He has published more than 600 papers in the peer-reviewed international journals e.g. Science, Nature Photonics, Nature Commun., Adv. Mater., Phys. Rev. Lett., J. Am. Chem. Soc. etc.
His papers have been cited for more than 37500 times (Web of Science). His h factor is 90. He has given plenary lectures or invited talks at various international conferences e.g. GOMD, ICG, OECC, CLEO-PR, APLS, PNCS etc. for more than 180 times. He has organized international conferences or symposiums e.g. ICG as a chair, co-chair or chair of the Organizing Committee for more than 45 times. He is executive chief-editor of Progress in Laser and Optoelectronics, associate editor of the International Journal of Applied Glass Science and the Journal of the Chinese Ceramic Society etc. He received G. W. Morey Award from the American Ceramic Society (2016), Academic Award of the Ceramic Society of Japan (2007), and Otto-Schott Research Award from the the Ernst Abbe Fund, Germany (2005). He is Fellow of the American Optical Society (Optica 2020), Fellow of the American Ceramic Society (2019) and Academician of the World Academy of Ceramics (2021).
