Prof. Claudia Felser is Director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids in Dresden, Germany. She is internationally renowned for her pioneering work in the design and discovery of novel quantum materials, including topological insulators, Weyl semimetals, and materials for energy conversion technologies. Her research bridges fundamental solid-state physics with materials chemistry, with significant impact on quantum technology.

Her approach integrates theoretical prediction, materials synthesis, and experimental validation of quantum phenomena. Working with her team and international collaborators, she has established a comprehensive research program that leads from conceptual design to the demonstration of emergent quantum effects in newly developed materials.

🏅 Blaise Pascal Medal in Materials Science (2022)
Awarded in recognition of her contributions to the design and realization of new quantum materials, with impact on quantum and energy conversion technologies. Prof. Felser’s work has led to fundamental breakthroughs in materials science and condensed matter research.

Prof. Claudia Felser has served as Officer of the Materials Science Division since March 2023, for the mandate March 2023 – April 2025
