Georgios Ioannis Nychas is an emeritus professor at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) and a Distinguished Professor at Shandong Agricultural University (China). Currently a member of the National Authorities for Higher Education (HAHE), vice president of the Hellenic Agricultural Academy, member of the European Academy of Science, member of the food safety working group of the ETP “Food for Life," and alternate member of the Management Board of the European Food Safety Authority. He was a member of the Hellenic (Greek) Foundation for Research and Innovation (HRI) and President of the National Authority of Food Safety (EFET). He was nominated as a highly cited researcher (Listed among the 1% Clarivate 2018) and, since 2016, has been among the most influential as well as leading academic researchers within several ranking institutions/organisations, i.e., Stanford Univ. (USA), AD Scientific Index, ScholarGPS, and Research (Research.com).
He has been awarded (chronologically) the (i) IAFP International Leadership Award (2017, USA) (ii) academic title “Doctor of Science” (D.Sc.- Bath University, UK 2019) (iii) IAFP International Fellow Award (2022, USA).
Being at the Agricultural University of Athens, he is/was a scientific coordinator in 7 EU projects and participated in 30 EU projects, earning > 16 M€.
