Prof. Giuseppe Lacidogna is Associate Professor of Structural Mechanics at the Department of Structural, Geotechnical and Building Engineering (DISEG), Politecnico di Torino, Italy. He received his PhD in Structural Engineering from the same institution in 1994, after graduating cum laude in Architecture in 1985. In 2018, he achieved the National Academic Qualification in Italy as Full Professor of Structural Mechanics, and was elected Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc) in the Engineering Division.
His research focuses on structural diagnostics, acoustic emission techniques, and the analysis of damage and failure in materials and structures. He has authored over 300 scientific works, including 7 monographs, more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, and 24 book chapters. Prof. Lacidogna serves on the editorial boards of various international journals and actively participates in leading scientific associations such as AIMETA, IA-FraMCoS, SEM, and RILEM.
He is currently a member of the Academic Board of the PhD Programme in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Politecnico di Torino and was previously Director of the PhD Programme in Structural Engineering (2016–2018). In recognition of his research achievements, he received the Certificate Merit Award from the European Society for Experimental Mechanics (EURASEM) in 2018, and was listed among the Top Italian Scientists in Engineering Mechanics.
Prof. Giuseppe Lacidogna has served the Engineering Division as Officer from March 2020 to February 2023; as Interim Head from March 2023 to April 2024; and as Head of Division for the term May 2025 – April 2028 (current and first full mandate as Head, in accordance with the EurASc Bylaws).
