Dr. Habtamu Abie (PhD), Chief Research Scientist and Digital Security Area Leader at the Norwegian Computing Center. Received his BSc., MSc and PhD. from the University of Oslo in Computer Science. Previously scientific associate and fellow at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research), Geneva, Switzerland, Researcher at ABB Corporate Research, Software Development Engineer at Nera-AS, Billingstad, Norway and Alcatel Telecom Norway AS, Oslo, Norway, and Senior Engineer and Research Scientist at Telenor Research and Development. He has many years of experience in computing, both as practitioner and researcher, including many years’ experiences in building large consortia and leading technical R&D work, both in industry-driven and multinational projects. He is a member of the Scientific Management Group of the SFI Norwegian Centre for Cybersecurity in Critical Sectors (NORCICS), Focus Area Leader of the IT-OT Integration Focus Area of NORCICS, and creator and leader of the Norwegian Ecosystem for Secure IT-OT Integration (NESIOT) a spinoff of NORCICS. He also coordinates the ECSCI (European Cluster for Securing Critical Infrastructures) cluster, a cluster of 40 EU funded projects. His current research interests include adaptive security, Adaptive AI for security, critical infrastructure protection and resilience, secure IT-OT integration, cybersecurity, adaptive threat hunting and intelligence, trust and risk management, 5G and beyond, Internet of Things, and digital twins for enhancing cybersecurity and resilience.
