Prof. Hanne Andersen is Professor of Philosophy of Science and Head of the Section for History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Her research explores the structure and dynamics of scientific change, with particular focus on the philosophy of interdisciplinary science, scientific collaboration, and the epistemology of scientific practices. She is internationally recognised for bridging philosophy of science with cognitive science and science studies.
Prof. Andersen has authored influential works on theories of scientific concepts, collaborative research, and the development of scientific knowledge, including the co-authored monograph The Cognitive Structure of Scientific Revolutions. She is also active in research policy and higher education, contributing to initiatives on responsible research practices and scientific integrity.
She has held several academic leadership roles and serves on editorial boards of leading journals in philosophy and science studies. Her work has been widely cited and has shaped the international discourse on the philosophy of science in practice.
Prof. Hanne Andersen has served as Head of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanitiesacross two roles: first as Officer from March 2019 to April 2022, extended until April 2024 due to the COVID-19 pandemic; and currently as Head of Division for the term December 2024 – November 2027 (first mandate as Head, in accordance with the EurASc Bylaws).
