Prof Liqun Zhang is the President of Xi’an Jiaotong University, and his research focuses on rubber materials science and engineering, polymer nanocomposites, bio-based polymeric materials, polymer processing engineering. He has published over 800 peer-reviewed articles, with a Total citations 43900 and H-index 102, and was chosen to be one of the most cited Chinese Researchers of Elsevier 2014-2021. He was invited to be the plenary speaker, the keynote speaker, the co-general chair and the session chair with a total of more than 100 times. He holds over 200 Chinese patents and PCT patents.  As the first author, he has also won two National Awards for Technological Invention 2nd Prize, one National Awards for Sci-tech Progress 2nd Prize and seven Provincial first prize. He is the Cheung Kong Scholar of Ministry of Education, Distinguished Young Scholar of NSFC. He was elected to be the member of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2021. 

He has served several important professional affiliations such as the Vice President  of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, the Chairman of Green Manufacturing Division for Rubber and Plastic Products, the Council   member    of   Chinese   Materials   Research    Society    and   Vice   Chairman  of Macromolecular Material and Engineering Division, the Council honorary member of Chinese Society for Composite Materials, the member of the 10th presidium of China Rubber Industry Association. He as well served the Member  of  Editorial  Board  of  several scientific  journals, such as Composites  Science  and  Technology, Composites  Part  B:  Engineering,  Composites  Communication,  Nano  Materials  Science, Journal   of   Applied   Polymer   Science,   Advanced Fiber Materials, Giant and so on. He is also the Honorary Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal of Advanced Nanocomposites.

He has been awarded several international awards, such as Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Lorraine, France, 2022; Colwyn Medal of The Institute  of Materials, Minerals and Mining, UK, 2021; International Rubber Conference Organization (IRCO) Medal, 2018; Morand Lambla Award of Polymer Processing Society, 2014; Sparks-Thomas Award of Rubber Division of American Chemical Society, 2012; The SCEJ Asia Research Award of the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan, 2012.
