Pedro J. Pérez (Aroche, Spain, 1965) received a Degree in Chemistry from Universidad de Sevilla in 1987 and a Ph. D. degree from the same University in 1991 under the supervision of Prof. Ernesto Carmona. As a postdoctoral Fulbright Scholar, he then joined Prof. Maurice Brookhart’s group at UNC-Chapel Hill (USA). He started (1993) an appointment as Assistant Professor at the Universidad de Huelva (Spain), where he has been promoted several times, to reach in 2005 the current position of Professor in Inorganic Chemistry. 
His main research focus has been on the development of catalytic systems for the valorisation of available raw materials, with special emphasis in the highly inert alkanes CnH2n+2 through metal catalyzed carbon-hydrogen bond functionalization processes.
