Dr. Sheng Dai currently serves as a Corporate Fellow and Section Head, overseeing four research groups dedicated to separations and polymer chemistry within the Chemical Sciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Concurrently, he holds the position of Professor of Chemistry at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK). Dr. Dai's research focuses on ionic liquids/molten salts, porous materials, and their applications in separation sciences, energy storage, nuclear energy, and catalysis by nanomaterials. His research achievements have garnered many awards, including the Max Bredig Award for Ionic Liquids and Molten Salts from the Electrochemical Society, the ACS Award in Separation Science and Technology, the 2018 IMMA Award presented by the International Mesostructured Materials Association, and the Battelle Distinguished Inventor Award. In 2022, Dr. Dai was honored with the title of DOE Distinguished Scientist Fellow by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science. He is a Fellow of Material Research Society and Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
