Medicine and Life Sciences Division

The Medicine and Life Sciences Division of the European Academy of Sciences brings together distinguished scientists working across biomedical sciences, clinical research, and life sciences, promoting excellence in both fundamental and applied research and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Division is coordinated by its Head of Division (HoD), supported by a Scientific Committee composed of up to four Members. In accordance with the Statutes and Bylaws of EurASc, both the Head of Division and the Scientific Committee are elected by the Active Members of the Division.

They serve three-year mandates, renewable up to two times, contributing to the evaluation of new member nominations, the identification of scientific priorities, and the development of the Division’s activities.

The Medicine and Life Sciences Division plays a central role in advancing health-related research and innovation within the Academy and contributes to the selection of candidates for EurASc awards.

Daniel Scherman

Head of Division

Prof. Daniel Scherman serves as Head of the Medicine and Life Sciences Division of EurASc, bringing internationally recognised expertise in biomedical sciences, drug delivery, and translational research, and contributing to the advancement of scientific excellence and interdisciplinary research within the Academy.

Scientific Committee of the Division

The Scientific Committee of the Division is composed of elected Members who support the Head of Division in the evaluation of nominations, the development of scientific activities, and the identification of research priorities within the field.

The current members of the Scientific Committee were elected by the Active Members of the Division for the term 1 May 2025 – 30 April 2028.
