Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The European Academy of Sciences (EurASc) is an independent international non-profit association established in Belgium. Its mission is to promote scientific excellence, fundamental research, technological innovation, and international scientific cooperation.
Membership is open to distinguished scientists who have achieved international peer recognition and have made significant contributions to their field.
Candidates must be nominated by a Fellow of EurASc and are elected following evaluation by the relevant Division and approval by the General Board.
Only Fellows (Active Members) of EurASc may submit nominations.

Active Members are Elected Members who have paid their annual membership due, as well as Members exempt from payment in accordance with the Statutes (e.g., Honorary Members and Emeritus Members).
Only Active Members may vote or hold office.
All nominations are submitted to the EurASc Secretariat and processed in accordance with the Academy’s Bylaws.
For Members and Honorary Members, the nomination is examined within the relevant Division, which evaluates the candidate’s credentials and proposes the appropriate membership status.
Guest Members, who are recognised for their outstanding achievements in the advancement and management of science at the international level, are elected directly by the General Board.
In all cases, the formal election is carried out by the General Board during the designated voting periods.
EurASc recognises scientific excellence through the following distinctions:
- Blaise Pascal Medal – laureates receive a medal and an official diploma.
- Leonardo da Vinci Award – laureates receive a crystal award and an official diploma.
- Kepler Prize – laureates are granted temporary Membership in the Academy for a duration of three years; the terms and conditions are defined in the relevant award rules.
The Academy is governed by its General Assembly, Presidium, Executive Committee, and General Board, in accordance with its Statutes.
EurASc engages in institutional cooperation through sponsorships, memoranda of understanding, and other formal agreements consistent with its objectives.
