Biography

Prof. Alberto Vomiero is Chair Professor of Experimental Physics at the Luleå University of Technology (LTU) and Professor of Materials Science and Technology at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. Since 2024, he has held the UNESCO Chair in Technologies and Materials for Green and Energy Applications. His research focuses on the study of the structure-functionality relationship in composite nanosystems for energy and environmental applications. He holds a Laurea in Physics from the University of Padova (1999) and a PhD in Electronic Engineering from the University of Trento (2003). Before joining LTU, he was a permanent research scientist at the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Brescia. He has authored over 300 publications, which have been cited more than 16,000 times (h-index: 71). His research has been supported by national and international funding agencies through grants exceeding 17 million EUR. Prof. Vomiero is a Fellow of numerous institutions, including the European Academy of Sciences, the Royal Society of Chemistry, the American Ceramic Society, the President’s International Fellowship Initiative of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Institute of Physics.
