Biography

Burkard Hillebrands is full professor of experimental physics at the University of Kaiserslautern. He is well known for his work in experimental magnetism, in particular in magnonics. He is an expert on nonlinear magnonic phenomena, magnonic crystals, magnon gases and condensates, and magnonic supercurrent phenomena in view of applications in novel information technologies such as magnon logics. He is IEEE Fellow, APS Fellow and Fellow of the Institute of Physics, London. He  was awarded an ERC Advanced Grant in 2016.  In 2023 he is the recipient of the IEEE Magnetics Society Achievement Award.   He is also member of the National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) and he is vice president of the Academy of Sciences and Literature, Mainz.
