Biography

Dominic Wright obtained his first degree at Strathclyde University in Glasgow in 1986 in Chemistry. He then did his Ph.D. in Cambridge under (the late) Ron Snaith in 1989 before and moving on to a College Research fellowship at Gonville and Caius College in Cambridge. He became a lecturer in chemistry at Cambridge in 1991, was promoted to reader in 2007 and then to a personal chair in inorganic chemistry in 2012. Wright’s interests are in a broad spectrum of main group and transition metal chemistry, spanning cyclopentadienyl compounds, transition metal oxide cages, main group metals in catalysis and macromolecular main group compounds. He has published around 360 papers in these areas. He was awarded the RSC Meldola Medal in 1993 and the RSC Main Group Chemistry Award in 2012.
