Xun Sun

Biography

Prof. Sun is the dean of the Department of Pharmaceutics at Sichuan University with expertise in the targeted drug delivery systems and the delivery of biopharmaceuticals. After postdoctoral training at Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania and the College of Pharmacy, University of Michigan, she joined the faculty of Sichuan University in 2008. She has been investigators in over 20 research projects worth over ¥30 million from National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Key Research and Development Program of China, British Royal Society, European Commission and Industry. She has published 292 peer reviewed journal papers with a h-index of 61. She is one of top 2% most-cited scientists in the world.  Prof. Sun was the recipient of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the Newton Advanced Fellowship, the second prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award and the first Prize of Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Improvement Prize. Prof. Sun is serving as Section Editor of Molecular Therapy and Associate Editor of Journal of Controlled Release. Currently she is the President of the Chinese Local Chapter of Controlled Release Society (CRS) and Vice Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Committee of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Society. She was elected as a Non-EU Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences (FEurASc) in 2025.
